The
Rhea County News Paper
"Rhea County's REAL Information Source"
Well, we hate say it once again, but we are about to spoil a headline story that we bet for
sure will be a front pager in the Wednesday edition of the advertising circular, the
Herald-News. Naturally, this will be read and they will want to NOT print it so as to save
face but they must print something to justify the selling of ads, obviously.

Hey, no matter what you people think you must admit that EVERY single prediction we
have made has come true. Every single one...WELL, SO FAR.

We find no pleasure in kicking a sick, injured dog no more than we find pleasure in
pissing off the kopy-katters at the Herald-News. Then again, maybe we do... who knows.

In any event, whether it be the tremendous strain of the ever increasing fuel prices along
with YOUR elected officials (
wow, make D's and F's in high school and get to be called
an official, geeezuss usss...
) trying to suck every tax dollar that they can out of YOU, or
whatever. But apparently two fellows decided to settle a dispute the old fashioned
way...by having a gun fight!!!

Sources say that Mickey Orick and David Webb (
2 classical fellows to say the least) had
been arguing with each other for the past several days. Apparently they decided to grab
their guns and meet at Rhea County's Rector Creek and settle the dispute with a gun
fight.

We have absolutely no idea what sort of guns they had but in any event each fellow
must have been a bad shot. Michael "Mickey" Orick, who served as an auxillary deputy
sheriff back in the late 1990's had qualified with his weapon and was considered to be
one of Rhea County's finest shots. Former Deputy Orick while at the Rhea County
Sheriff's Department, met and married a female deputy sheriff by the name of Lisa True
Ellis. Actually,
you can click here and read a letter she submitted to "Oma's Advocate"
Oct. 29, 1998
.

Sources say that the gun fight between former Rhea County Deputy Sheriff Michael
"Mickey" Orick and David Webb was the result of a heated dispute that had been
brewing for days between the two. Sheriff's deputies were called out to a boat dock
around the area of Rector Creek in Rhea County for a shooting Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, former Deputy Sheriff Orick and Webb both showed up armed with
guns and fired at each other. Apparently Orick's police training paid off because not only
did each man miss his target in the barrage of gun fire, former Deputy Sheriff Orick
managed to hit Webb in the eye. Well, the bullet didn't actually hit Webb in the eye but
one bullet managed to find it's way through a car window, shattering the glass.
Apparently the glass fragments hit Webb in the eye. We do not know whether the bullet
came from former Deputy Sheriff Orick's firearm or from Webb forgetting to roll his
window down. Someone else can figure that one out.

Maybe that will give
John Carpenter something to print. Although AS USUAL by the time
they print  this story it will be OLD NEWS...Yep, we sure hate to spoil their newspaper
stories.

In any event, Webb was taken to the new 28 million dollar hospital with non-life
threatening injuries.

Sources also say there were two other people in the vehicle with Webb: David Webb,
Junior and Doug Price.

Charges are pending against all four, including the former deputy who are reported to
each have criminal records.
